Katie Hall
Founder/Teacher/Safe Guarding Lead
Since a young age I have always been passionate about horses. I was lucky enough to get my first pony at 8 years old and have owned horses ever since. I started working with horses in my teens, competing on my own horses and studied at an Equine College. I soon became a qualified Horse Riding Instructor. This is where I found my love for teaching. I didn’t only teach riding, I started running a Saturday club which became very popular with the kids. They learnt everything about horses. I moved on from the Riding School and started teaching at an Equine College. I worked at the College for 14 years. Although I did enjoy being an Equine Lecturer. Doing school runs, having a baby and being a Lecturer just wasn’t suiting my family life. I worked with a variety of learners throughout the years. Lead a number of different courses, organised events and even took learners over seas on educational trips. It was great fun! One thing that I was always noticed to be good at was supporting learners with additional needs. I really put my all into helping them progress, making bespoke courses for them, making sure they had the same opportunities as everyone else in a way that would work for them. I made time to attended Educational Health Care Plan reviews and have input on their progression. I spent time trying to find internships and help build their futures. So with the help and encouragement from my husband. We put together what I love, what I am good at and what would suit my family life. This is ‘Katie’s Horse Care Club’
Meet the Animals
Dax
The sensitive horse that wants to deeply connect with people. Dax can be moody some days and decide he doesn’t want to join in, then other days he is the soppiest horse you’ll ever meet. He seems to zone in to learners with anxiety. Often some learners only ever want to work with Dax. He is very voice responsive and great at teaching ground work, leading and lungeing.
Izzi
The kind horse that helps the learners gain confidence. Izzi would happily be groomed and fussed with all day long as long as he has some hay to munch on. He is very beautiful and the learners love making him look smart. The only thing Izzi doesn’t like is rain. He likes to hide from the rain in his shelter or stable and be wrapped up in a cosy rug with a cup of pepper mint tea.
Ginger
The most adorable pony you will ever meet. We like to call her our Queen. She is going to be 40 years old this year. Don’t let her age fool you as Ginger is very young at heart. Ginger would love nothing more than to be groomed and fussed with all day. Ginger can sometimes trot off to grass which normally sets off lots of laughter. All learners get involved supporting Ginger’s veteran health care.
Harry
The handsome chunky cob. Harry is our newest member of the team. He loves to be told he is a good boy and made a fuss of. He can get a little worried when leaving the other horses on the yard. He needs reassurance at times when leading to and from the field so not handled by all learners yet. He is a pretty laid back chap about most things and adjusting well to his new lifestyle.
Rosie
Rosie, who is actually a male cat (don’t ask), has 3 legs, is partially blind and is somehow allergic to everything, is our fair weather cat who often makes an appearance during the summer months.
Prince
The cheekiest little Welsh Mountain Pony. If anyone is going to untie their quick release knot and trot off into the feed room it is definitely going to be Prince. Prince is known for his cheesy smiles and daily funny antics. Although he is the naughtiest, he is very kind and adores attention. He is not phased by anything, except the hose. He hates baths and loves to roll in mud. So Prince always needs a good groom.
Frank
You may see Frank walking around the farm. He loves to come over and say hello to everyone. Frank is a lovely old boy and extremely well behaved. He also likes to check if anyone has dropped any biscuits in the pony cabin.
